A new month means a new Regal Eagle. However being regal or an Eagle is not new to Mr. Woods as he is without a doubt both. The fact he graduated a Blackhawk will not be held against him today. Raymond Woods dedicated his life to education and specifically 21 years to my favorite school in my favorite village. Mr Woods shaped and molded our school to the best of his abilities not just for his time but for the future as well. He played key roles in getting the little gym or “new gym” as my grandpa called it, and the library built. He influenced as many young teachers as he did students. His love for the village and school within it has never wavered and we are grateful for all that he has given and done. 1956 Graduate of Sandoval High School 1958 Graduate of Centralia Junior College 1964 Bachelor's Degree-McKendree College 1964 President Marion County Education Association 1966 Masters Degree-University of Illinois 1958-1963 7th/8th Grade Teacher-Shanafelt Consolidated School Jr. High Boys' Basketball Coach-Shanafelt Consolidated School 1963-1966 Superintendent Kell Consolidated School 1966-1987 Superintendent Odin Public Schools 1970-1987 Consultant-Illinois State Board of Education 1987-1994 President Kaskaskia College 1987-1994 Statewide Chairman of the Student Services Committee for Illinois Junior Colleges 1994 Retired from education Thank you Mr Woods for being one of the most regal Eagles you could be. Over the weekend, Rome Grade School lost a member of their school community, Braden Tate. TOMORROW, let's wear GREEN to support their school, their community, Braden's family, and all those who mourn his loss. Junior High and High School students are still encouraged to wear hats this week ($1.00) to support Lauren and her battle with cancer. In difficult times, we stand together to support one another.
